Rainwater solutions
From roof to irrigationA rainwater system is more than a pump. Depending on the application, water is collected, filtered and stored before a pump or booster delivers it through pipework to its end use. DAB lists rainwater reuse among the duties of its Garden and Jet self-priming pumps and for the ESYBOX Line. Bosta can supply the other components around the DAB pump, depending on the project. Rainwater is for non-potable uses such as garden irrigation. It is not drinking water. See rainwater harvesting solutions → View the rainwater brochure → |

How to choose the right DAB pump
Pump selection starts with the water source and installation, then the required performance and finally the liquid and control requirements. Confirm the final choice against the individual DAB performance curve and product data.
Source & installationStart with the water source – for example a well, tank, cistern, rainwater store or mains supply – and decide whether the pump needs to be surface-mounted or submersible. |
Duty & performanceDetermine the required flow and the total head or pressure the system needs at the operating point. |
Liquid & controlMatch the pump to the liquid – clean water, rainwater, drainage, effluent or sewage – and check the available power supply and control method. |
Always confirm model selection using the individual DAB product data and performance curve.
Water technology, engineered for reliability
DAB has more than 50 years of experience designing and manufacturing electric water pumps, supplying pumping solutions for residential, commercial and agricultural water systems worldwide.
Frequency-controlled pumps and pressure boosters from DAB can reduce energy use by up to 20% compared with traditional pressure boosters, supporting energy-efficiency targets in both new and existing buildings.

Frequently asked questions about Dab
DAB product groups include centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, self-priming jet pumps and pump controls. ESYBOX pressure boosting solutions are also available within the DAB assortment.
Make sure the pump can draw enough water and that no air enters the suction line, since air in the suction line can prevent the pump from reaching the required pressure and capacity. A centrifugal pump can draw water from a maximum depth of 8 metres — if groundwater is deeper, a well pump is required.
An above-ground centrifugal pump should be drained in winter to reduce the risk of freezing in the pump housing, by unscrewing the drain plugs so water can run out. A well pump can remain in the well during winter, and occasional longer running can help prevent it from getting stuck.
A pump can use a pressurised water system or another automatic start and stop system. With a pressure switch or regulator, the pump starts when pressure falls below the set value and stops at the maximum. With frequency control, the required pressure is set and maintained as demand changes.
Start by calculating the required litres per hour at the required pressure. Nozzle type, number of nozzles and sprinkler pattern determine total water demand. A pump curve table can then be used to select a matching pump — if the selected pump is too large, irrigation can be divided into two or more groups.
For a normal garden, a self-priming jet pump is often selected. For a larger field or nursery with larger sprinklers, a larger centrifugal pump can be a good choice. For large irrigation reels, a large well pump is often selected.
